I would pick the GS. I've had 3 Rolex before and because my work day requires being on time for meetings and submissions, the Rolex time was never credible. It's a fine piece of jewelry, but this GS is something I could actually rely on to give correct time. Also, unless I wear the rolex regularly, I have to reset it all the time or keep it on my watch winder. Too much trouble and I don't have time for that.

Sorry, 80,000 A/m (1000 Gauss) is not "pretty basic". According to ISO 764 or German equivalent DIN 8309, a watch must resist exposure to a direct current magnetic field of 4800 A/m (60 Gauss) to be considered anti-magnetic. THAT is the basic standard. This watch has magnetic resistance nearly 17x the basic standard. This matches watches like the IWC Mission Earth Ingenieur, or the famous Rolex Milgauss -- both originally costing MUCH more.

This is not quite a pound per pound comparison. The GS is a quartz which is much thinner than the spring drive or automatic. The Rolex would be better wear if both are automatic.

Both great watches, Damasko with the better case, Tudor with the better bracelet. But i would choose the Damasko because I don’t like wearing anything mainstream. In fact very tempted to buy the Damasko in the next few months

Thanks for the quick look. A nice watch. I looked at these and the CWC (Cabot Watch Company) ones. In the end, I wieghed up all things, including what I needed from the look, and ended up with an Addiesdive 2056 as i prefer the Vaer twisted lug type case.

My 20 dollar Casio can keep more accurate time than any piece of metal Rolex has to offer, take that thousands of dollars and invest instead or buy real estate.

I have a 14060 made in 97 Swiss only two liner and wear mine on nato more than the newest 126610 from 2024. There’s something special about the drilled lugs and neo vintage charm. Just got it serviced and running +-2 seconds per day

I kinda see what you’re saying, and an Explorer 2 is on my short list, but I very respectfully disagree with you. It’s kind of like being a Porsche enthusiast and saying, “ yeah, the 911 is nice, but don’t overlook the Cayenne, it’s more of a tool car and gets more recognized by non-enthusiasts.” You will never see James Bond wearing an Explorer 2.

Unless you are a watch enthusiast, people will just assume that’s a sub anyhow.

That’s my watch - replaced my issued 5513 when it was damaged beyond repair. This is a solid performer, bang on time month to month and year to year, tough as nails with Rolex services keep it in good condition despite the wear and tear it gets. It works no matter your dress - working gear, weekend casual or suit, it goes with every occasion. A classic that sets the standard.

Right before the Rolex craziness (circa 2018-2019?), I tried on an unpolished black tritium dial version of this watch that was on consignment at my watchmaker's place listed for $5900, but was immediately told the seller would negotiate on the price. I was really looking for a white dial, and this was too beat up with scratches for me to want to buy it... but it wore perfectly, and felt great on the wrist. Sort of wish I went for it and had it polished by Rolex and then I could scratch on my own (which would be inevitable). That said, I just tried on the 14060 4 line Sub the other day at a local jeweler and I fell in love instantly. But they wanted a crazy price for it nearly 13K... Nope.

Just got a 14060M with a long f. You are right that they were pretty much standard for the pre-ceramic 16610s and two liner 14060/Ms. But for the four liner, they are quite rare cos they were only produced for one year during the transition to COS certification as you mentioned.
